What We Supply

What you'll need, when you'll need it

Every self-build follows roughly the same concrete pattern. Here's what to expect, and which mix solves each stage.

Strip / trench-fill foundations

C16/20, C25/30

Load-bearing footings, Building Regs specify the mix and we'll match your engineer's spec. Trench-fill is the common choice: faster to pour, less shuttering, the whole lot becomes foundation mass.

Oversite slab

C8/10 · C16/20

The ground-floor slab that sits on your DPM and insulation. Poured once the sub-floor is ready, often the biggest single pour of the build, so consider a pump if the wagon can't reach.

Garage & outbuilding floors

C25/30 · 150mm

Structural slab for the garage or workshop. Strong enough to take a car, smooth enough to paint or tile. Usually poured alongside the main oversite to save on delivery.

Floor screed

4:1 · 65-100mm

Goes down after the insulation and underfloor-heating pipework. Self-levelling, smooth finish for tiles or final flooring. Fibres optional for UFH installs.

Driveway & external works

C28/35 · 150mm

Driveway, paths, patio bases, often the last big pour. Consider a heavy-duty mix (C32/40) if you've got a caravan, horsebox or commercial van.

Pumped concrete

P280 pump mix

When the wagon can't reach, back gardens, landlocked plots, upper floors or basements. We arrange the pump, schedule the pour, and co-ordinate both as one booking.

Why Choose Us

Built for people managing their own site

01

Reliable delivery windows

You've got a labour gang booked and an inspector on the way. We give you a 30-minute slot, not "sometime Tuesday". Miss it and we'll make it right.

02

Building-regs compliant

Our mixes are BSI Kitemark certified. We supply delivery tickets and batch records for your Building Control file, no awkward conversations with the inspector.

03

One person, every call

Self-builds take 18 months. You get a named coordinator who knows your plot, your access, your usual mixes and your phone number. No "hold while I transfer you".

04

Trade pricing on volume

Once we've seen 20m³ through your site, you're on trade rates. Self-build VAT reclaim applies too, we invoice cleanly for your zero-rating claim.

05

Technical advice on tap

Your structural engineer has specified C28/35 but you're not sure on slump or aggregate size? Call us. We've batched for thousands of self-builds, we'll save you the mistake.

06

Volumetric: pay only for what's poured

On a volumetric load the driver confirms actual volume at the end, order 8m³ and only use 6.5, and you're billed for 6.5. Drum-mixer loads are charged for what's batched. We'll advise which one your job needs.

Common Questions

Ready-mix concrete: the basics

How much is ready-mix concrete?

Ready-mix concrete prices vary by mix grade and volume, typical UK domestic mixes (GEN3, C20/25) sit around £100-£140 per m³, with higher-grade structural mixes priced higher. Use our concrete calculator to estimate volume, then get a live quote on the order page.

What is ready-mix concrete?

Ready-mix concrete is concrete batched at a plant to a specified mix design, cement, aggregates, water and admixtures combined in controlled proportions, then delivered fresh to site by mixer wagon. It saves the time and inconsistency of mixing on-site and gives you a known performance grade with paperwork to match.

How much concrete do I need?

Volume = length × width × depth in metres, plus around 10% for wastage and over-dig. Our concrete calculator does this for you and rounds to what we can deliver. For volumetric loads we round to the nearest 0.5m³; drum-mixer loads round to the nearest full cubic metre.

Where can I buy ready-mix concrete near me?

We deliver ready-mix concrete across the Midlands from plants in Coventry and surrounding areas. See our locations page for the full coverage map. 1m³ minimum, no small-load surcharge, next-day slots subject to availability.

How do I prepare for a concrete delivery?

Confirm the wagon access route the day before, minimum 3m width and 4m height for a standard 8-wheel wagon. Have your shutters / edge boards in place, the dig clean of debris, and at least two people ready with rakes and shovels at the discharge point. We discharge directly off the chute, or via pump if you've booked one.

What is the minimum concrete delivery?

1m³ on most domestic deliveries, with no small-load surcharge. Higher-grade structural mixes occasionally have a higher minimum, confirm when you book.

FAQ

Audience-specific questions

Do you supply concrete for DIY self-builds or only to trade?

Both. You don't need to be a contractor, plenty of our self-builders are first-time builders. Trade accounts are optional; pay-as-you-go works fine too.

Can I reclaim VAT on ready-mix concrete for a self-build?

Yes, concrete supplied for a new dwelling is zero-rateable under HMRC's DIY Housebuilders Scheme (VAT Notice 431NB). We invoice with clear materials/labour split so your reclaim goes through cleanly.

My engineer has specified a specific mix, can you match it?

Almost always. Send us the spec sheet (strength class, aggregate size, slump, any additives like GGBS, fibre, accelerators) and we'll confirm before you order.

What's the biggest pour you can deliver in one day?

For continuous pours on a single site, we can run 30-50m³ per day from each plant with pre-booked scheduling. Larger? Call us, we've done 100m³+ slab pours with multiple wagons on rotation.

Do you deliver to remote plots?

Anywhere within ~30 miles of our Coventry or Melton Mowbray plants. Tight access, farm tracks and landlocked plots all fine, but tell us at order time so we send the right size wagon (or arrange a pump).

Can Building Control see your batch records?

Yes. Every delivery comes with a ticket showing mix code, strength class, batch time and volume. We can provide certified batch records on request for your Building Control file.
