Common Questions
Ready-mix concrete: the basics
How much is ready-mix concrete?
Ready-mix concrete prices vary by mix grade and volume, typical UK domestic mixes (GEN3, C20/25) sit around £100-£140 per m³, with higher-grade structural mixes priced higher. Use our concrete calculator to estimate volume, then get a live quote on the order page.
What is ready-mix concrete?
Ready-mix concrete is concrete batched at a plant to a specified mix design, cement, aggregates, water and admixtures combined in controlled proportions, then delivered fresh to site by mixer wagon. It saves the time and inconsistency of mixing on-site and gives you a known performance grade with paperwork to match.
How much concrete do I need?
Volume = length × width × depth in metres, plus around 10% for wastage and over-dig. Our concrete calculator does this for you and rounds to what we can deliver. For volumetric loads we round to the nearest 0.5m³; drum-mixer loads round to the nearest full cubic metre.
Where can I buy ready-mix concrete near me?
We deliver ready-mix concrete across the Midlands from plants in Coventry and surrounding areas. See our locations page for the full coverage map. 1m³ minimum, no small-load surcharge, next-day slots subject to availability.
How do I prepare for a concrete delivery?
Confirm the wagon access route the day before, minimum 3m width and 4m height for a standard 8-wheel wagon. Have your shutters / edge boards in place, the dig clean of debris, and at least two people ready with rakes and shovels at the discharge point. We discharge directly off the chute, or via pump if you've booked one.
What is the minimum concrete delivery?
1m³ on most domestic deliveries, with no small-load surcharge. Higher-grade structural mixes occasionally have a higher minimum, confirm when you book.
FAQ
Audience-specific questions
Is the concrete independently certified?
Yes, our concrete holds the BSI Kitemark, one of the most recognised symbols of quality and trust in the UK. Maintained through regular independent audits. See our Accreditations page.
Which standards do you produce concrete to?
BS EN 206 (European concrete standard) and BS 8500 (British complementary standard). Both governing standards are referenced on every relevant delivery.
How are you accredited for testing?
Our testing procedures adhere to ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Can you supply to a designated or standardised mix specification?
Yes. Send the spec sheet, designated (GEN/RC/etc.) or standardised (ST1-ST5), and we batch to it. Mix code is locked into the order so there's no ambiguity load to load.
Do you provide batch and conformity paperwork?
Yes. Mix grade, slump, batch number and batch time are on every load ticket. Project-bound conformity paperwork against BS 8500 is available on request.
Can you support a large continuous pour?
Yes, larger pours are scheduled across two or three plants. We pre-agree wagon interval to your pour rate, with backup wagons on standby. Pump coordination included.
