Porous concrete, also called permeable or no-fines concrete, is an open-textured mix made with coarse aggregate and little or no sand, so water drains straight through it rather than running off. We supply it as no-fines mixes for free-draining sub-bases, drainage layers, soakaways, and lightweight fill, from our Coventry and Melton Mowbray plants. It is quote-only, so call us to confirm the right spec for your project. Note that no-fines porous concrete is open-textured and non-structural, so it should not be used for load-bearing slabs or finished trafficked surfaces.

What is Slump?
Slump measures how workable (wet) your concrete is. Think of it like consistency, from thick and stiff to fluid and pourable.
S1 - Stiff
Low workability. Best for road kerbs, channels, and work that needs to hold its shape. Harder to work by hand.
S2 - Standard
Medium workability. Best for most domestic jobs: driveways, foundations, slabs. Good balance of strength and ease of use. This is what most people need.
S3 - Wet
High workability. Best for pumped concrete, reinforced sections, and hard-to-reach pours. Flows more easily but may need more time to set.
Not sure? S2 is usually the right choice for most domestic projects. Don't worry if you get it wrong, we'll be giving you a call to confirm your order anyway.
What is Aggregate Size?
Aggregate is the stone mixed into your concrete. The size affects how the concrete flows, finishes, and performs.
20mm - Standard
Bigger stone. Uses less cement than the 10mm mixes so works out cheaper overall. Ideal for most domestic jobs: paths, slabs, foundations, driveways. This is what most people use.
10mm - Smaller Stone
Smaller stone. Easier to work by hand, gives a smoother finish, and flows well in tight spaces. Best where a smooth finish matters or for confined areas.
Not sure? 20mm is the right choice for most domestic projects.
